Pakistan Salary Tax Calculator 2026-27
Work out income tax on your salary for tax year 2027 (1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027) using the slabs in the Finance Act 2026, with your monthly tax, take-home pay and the change from last year.
For salaried people: these slabs apply when salary is more than 75% of your taxable income. If most of your income is from business or rent, different rates apply.

How it is calculated
- Taxable salary per year = (gross salary − tax-free part) × 12 if monthly
- Up to Rs 600,000: 0%
- Rs 600,001 – 1,200,000: 1% of the amount over Rs 600,000
- Rs 1,200,001 – 2,200,000: Rs 6,000 + 11% of the amount over Rs 1,200,000
- Rs 2,200,001 – 3,200,000: Rs 116,000 + 20% of the amount over Rs 2,200,000
- Rs 3,200,001 – 4,100,000: Rs 316,000 + 25% of the amount over Rs 3,200,000
- Rs 4,100,001 – 5,600,000: Rs 541,000 + 29% of the amount over Rs 4,100,000
- Rs 5,600,001 – 7,000,000: Rs 976,000 + 32% of the amount over Rs 5,600,000
- Above Rs 7,000,000: Rs 1,424,000 + 35% of the amount over Rs 7,000,000
- No surcharge on salaried individuals from tax year 2027 (section 4AB as amended).
- Last year (2025-26) for comparison: 0% / 1% / Rs 6,000 + 11% / Rs 116,000 + 23% / Rs 346,000 + 30% / Rs 616,000 + 35% over Rs 4,100,000, plus a 9% surcharge on the whole tax when taxable income exceeded Rs 10 million.
Worked example
A gross salary of Rs 200,000 a month (Rs 2,400,000 a year), no tax-free allowances.
| You enter | |
|---|---|
| I am entering my | Monthly salary |
| Gross salary | Rs 200,000 |
| Tax-free part of that salary (optional) | Rs 0 |
| You get | |
| Tax per month | Rs 13,000 |
| Tax per year | Rs 156,000 |
| Salary after tax, per month | Rs 187,000 |
| Effective tax rate | 6.50% |
| Your top slab rate | 20% |
| Tax per month last year (2025-26) | Rs 13,500 |
| You save per month vs 2025-26 | Rs 500 |
On a taxable salary of Rs 2,400,000 a year you pay Rs 116,000 on the first Rs 2,200,000, plus 20% of the Rs 200,000 above it: Rs 156,000 a year. That is Rs 500 a month less than in 2025-26.
Questions
Which tax year is this?
Tax year 2027, which runs from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027. People often call it the 2026-27 budget year.
Is there still a 9% surcharge on high salaries?
No. The Finance Act 2026 changed section 4AB so that no surcharge is payable by salaried individuals. Last year it applied above Rs 10 million, which is why high earners save the most.
Gross or taxable salary?
Enter your gross pay and, if you know it, the tax-free part (for example medical allowance up to 10% of basic pay). The calculator subtracts it for you. If unsure, leave the tax-free part at 0: the result will be on the safe, slightly higher side.
Why Rs 346,000 and not Rs 345,000 for last year?
FBR's Circular No. 01 (2 August 2025, page 4) prints the 2025-26 fixed amounts as Rs 345,000 and Rs 615,000. The Income Tax Ordinance itself, as amended and published by FBR, prints Rs 346,000 and Rs 616,000, which is also what the slabs add up to (Rs 116,000 + 23% of Rs 1,000,000 = Rs 346,000). The Ordinance is the law and the circular is guidance, so this calculator follows the Ordinance. The difference is at most about Rs 80 a month and affects only the comparison with last year. Both documents are linked below.
Can I use this for my pension?
No. Pension received from a former employer has its own rate in the Ordinance (First Schedule, Part I, Division I): 0% on the first Rs 10 million a year and 5% on the amount above that. Enter only salary here.
What about very high salaries?
Super tax under section 4C of the Ordinance applies to every person with very high income, including salary; its thresholds start at Rs 150 million a year. This calculator does not include it and says so in the result when your income is that high.
Why does my payslip show a slightly different figure?
Employers spread the year's tax over the remaining months, so a raise, bonus or arrears changes the monthly deduction. The yearly total should match.
