Fuel Cost Calculator
Work out how much fuel a trip uses and what it costs, from the distance, your car's fuel economy (km per litre, litres per 100 km or miles per gallon) and the fuel price.
- Fuel cost
- –
- Fuel needed
- –
- Cost per km or mile (your distance unit)
- –
How it is calculated
- Fuel (litres) = distance in km ÷ km per litre
- Cost = litres × price per litre
- Conversions: L/100 km → km/L = 100 ÷ value; mpg (US) → km/L = mpg × 1.609344 ÷ 3.785411784; mpg (UK) → km/L = mpg × 1.609344 ÷ 4.54609
Worked example
A 500 km trip in a car that does 12 km per litre, fuel at 270 a litre.
| You enter | |
|---|---|
| Distance | 500 |
| Distance unit | Kilometres |
| Fuel economy | 12 |
| Fuel economy unit | km per litre |
| Fuel price | 270 |
| Price is per | Litre |
| You get | |
| Fuel cost | 11,250 |
| Fuel needed | 41.67 L |
| Cost per km or mile (your distance unit) | 22.5 |
500 km uses about 41.67 litres of fuel, costing 11,250 (22.5 per km).
