Assumptions (3)
- A filled-in rate is the mid-market reference rate from the rate source, updated once a day; it is not your bank's rate.
- A rate you type replaces it, as units of "To" for 1 unit of "From".
- No bank fee or margin is added.

- Amount received = amount × exchange rate (units of "To" for 1 unit of "From")
- Reverse rate = 1 ÷ exchange rate
- Today's rate between two currencies = rate of "To" per US dollar ÷ rate of "From" per US dollar (from the rate table)
Worked example
100 US dollars in Saudi riyals at the official fixed rate of 3.75 riyals per dollar (Saudi Central Bank).
| You enter | |
|---|---|
| Amount | 100 |
| From | USD – US dollar |
| To | SAR – Saudi riyal |
| Exchange rate (1 unit of "From" in "To") | 3.75 |
| You get | |
| You get | 375.00 SAR |
| Reverse rate | 1 SAR = 0.266667 USD |
100 USD × 3.75 = 375.00 SAR.
Questions (3)
Why is my bank's rate different?
Banks, cards and exchange companies add a margin to the mid-market rate, and some also charge a fee. Type the rate they quote you in the rate box to see exactly what you will receive.
How often is the rate updated?
The rate source updates once a day; the time of the last update is shown under the result. If the rate cannot be loaded, or is more than three days old, no rate is filled in and you can type one yourself.
Is the amount I type sent anywhere?
No, not for the sum: your browser downloads the day's rate table and does the sum on your device. Your numbers stay on your device unless you share them.

Filled-in rates are mid-market reference rates, updated once a day by the rate source; they are not live trading prices and not the rate a bank, card or exchange company will give you.
