Marla, Kanal & Square Feet Converter (Punjab)

Is a marla 225 or 272 square feet?
Both are official in Punjab: the Punjab Private Housing Schemes Rules 2022 define a marla as 225 sq ft in Lahore district and 272 sq ft in other districts. Societies such as DHA Lahore use 225 sq ft. Older revenue records may use yet another size, so check your documents.
How many marla in one kanal?
Always 20 marla. So one kanal is 4,500 sq ft (500 sq yd) in Lahore district and 5,440 sq ft in other districts of Punjab.
How many kanal in an acre?
An acre is 43,560 sq ft: 9.68 kanal with a 225 sq ft marla, or about 8.01 kanal with a 272 sq ft marla. The familiar "8 kanal = 1 acre" holds only for a marla of 272.25 sq ft.
